Wonder how it's done? This past September I posted a music video "The Pony". I wanted to tell a story inspired by the song of the same title (by The Migrant). Now, I don't animate. I don't have those skills or the knowledge of the software. And I enjoy working with traditional paints. So I've worked on developing a style that mixes in elements of animation and sequential storytelling. The first time I tried something like this was for the video "Time Bomb". That was sort of a crash course for myself in figuring out the style, techniques and tricks. So here is a breakdown of how I made "The Pony".
Step 1: Brainstorm & Outline.
The first step in anything creative. This involves listening to the song. A LOT. So it helps to have an awesome piece of music.
Step 2: Sketching & Scripting
It helps to have an idea of what you're getting into before you start recording.
Step 3: GO!
