Happy New Year!
Here it is! The very first Doodle of the 2014 Daily Doodle challenge!
We're all cleaning our slate, making plans and setting goals for 2014. And, as you may have guessed, my goal is to do a Daily Doodle.
Over the next year I plan to draw or doodle at least once a day. Every Day. For all of 2014. And I'd like to keep you updated. Every doodle will be posted on my blog here. I will also try to update on Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and perhaps the occasional time lapsed video of the doodle on Youtube. Yesterday I picked up a couple sketchbooks at the art store that should (hopefully) last the entire year. Doodles could be drawings, paintings or just plain 'ole doodles. SOMETHING has to go on paper.
Seriously. I encourage you to try it out. If not for a year, then maybe a month perhaps? And it does not need to be doodling, although I think it's a great goal for any artist, whether your new or experienced. But you can make a goal of anything you'd like to get better at, improve, or that you've lamented not doing. Maybe you promise yourself to pick up and play that dusty guitar every day. Or promise yourself to go for a daily walk, to write, to leave the house and be social, to cook...
Skills need exercising. Art is about practice and continuously training and learning new things about yourself. I have to admit, over the last couple years, as my Youtube channel has been growing and speeding up, the amount of actual drawings I've gotten to do has slowed down dramatically.
So here's to a new year of growth. Let's make ourselves the people we want to be. All hail the mighty red cat demon and let the non-believers choke on his fur :D
